Chapter 30: Evils of bribery in judgment
Al-Mundhiri recorded the following chapter in his book Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib:
ترهيب الراشي والمرتشي والساعي بَينهمَا
Warning against giving and taking bribes, and pursuing either of them.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him said:
لَعَنَ اللهُ الرَّاشِيَ وَالْمُرْتَشِيَ فِي الْحُكْمِ
Allah has cursed the one who offers a bribe and the one who accepts a bribe to receive a favorable judgment.

In another narration, Abu Huraira said:لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّاشِي وَالْمُرْتَشِ
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who offers bribes and the one who takes bribes.

Abu al-Ahwas reported: Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
الرِّشْوَةُ فِي الْحُكْمِ كُفْرٌ وَهِيَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ سُحْتٌ
Bribery to receive a favorable judgement is an act of unbelief, and between people it is illicit.
