مُسْنَدُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ

Musnad Ahmad 74
It was narrated from Salim from Ibn ‘Umar that `Umar said
Hafsah bint 'Umar became the widow of Khunais or Hudhaifah bin Hudhafah - 'Abdur-Razzaq was not certain. He was one of the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) who were present at Badr, and he died in Madinah, I met 'Uthman bin `Affan and offered I Hafsah to him in marriage, I said: If you wish, I will marry Hafsah to you. He said: I will think about it. A few days passed, then he met me and said: I do not want to get married at present. 'Umar said: Then I met Abu Bakr and I said: If you wish, I will marry Hafsah the daughter of ‘Umar to you. He did not give any response to me, and I was more upset with him than with 'Uthman. A few days passed, then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) proposed marriage to her and he gave her in marriage to him. Abu Bakr met me and said: Perhaps you felt upset with me when you offered Hafsah to me in marriage and I did not give you any response? I said: Yes. He said: Nothing prevented me from giving you an answer when you offered her to me in marriage except that I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mention her and I did not want to disclose the private matters of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). If he had not married her, I would have married her.حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، قَالَ تَأَيَّمَتْ حَفْصَةُ بِنْتُ عُمَرَ مِنْ خُنَيْسٍ أَوْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ شَكَّ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا فَتُوُفِّيَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِ حَفْصَةَ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْكَحْتُكَ حَفْصَةَ قَالَ سَأَنْظُرُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَلَبِثْتُ لَيَالِيَ فَلَقِيَنِي فَقَالَ مَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ يَوْمِي هَذَا قَالَ عُمَرُ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْكَحْتُكَ حَفْصَةَ ابْنَةَ عُمَرَ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ إِلَيَّ شَيْئًا فَكُنْتُ أَوْجَدَ عَلَيْهِ مِنِّي عَلَى عُثْمَانَ فَلَبِثْتُ لَيَالِيَ فَخَطَبَهَا إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَنْكَحْتُهَا إِيَّاهُ فَلَقِيَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ لَعَلَّكَ وَجَدْتَ عَلَيَّ حِينَ عَرَضْتَ عَلَيَّ حَفْصَةَ فَلَمْ أَرْجِعْ إِلَيْكَ شَيْئًا قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي أَنْ أَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكَ شَيْئًا حِينَ عَرَضْتَهَا عَلَيَّ إِلَّا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُهَا وَلَمْ أَكُنْ لِأُفْشِيَ سِرَّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَوْ تَرَكَهَا لَنَكَحْتُهَا.
Musnad Ahmad 741
It was narrated that Abul-Hayyaj al-Asadi said
`Ali (رضي الله عنه) said to me: I shall send you on the same mission as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me: do not leave any image without erasing it or any built-up grave without levelling it.حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيَّاجِ الْأَسَدِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ لِي عَلِيٌّ أَبْعَثُكَ عَلَى مَا بَعَثَنِي عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا تَدَعَ تِمْثَالًا إِلَّا طَمَسْتَهُ وَلَا قَبْرًا مُشْرِفًا إِلَّا سَوَّيْتَهُ.
Musnad Ahmad 742
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) liked this soorah: “Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High`[al-A`la 87].حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ ثُوَيْرِ بْنِ أَبِي فَاخِتَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ سَبِّحْ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى .
Musnad Ahmad 743
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said
Three people came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and one of them said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I had one hundred dinars and i gave ten of them in charity. The next one said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I had ten dinars and I gave one of them in charity. The next one said: I had one dinar and I gave one-tenth of it in charity. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “You are all the same in reward, for each of you gave one tenth of his wealth.”حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جَاءَ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَتْ لِي مِائَةُ دِينَارٍ فَتَصَدَّقْتُ مِنْهَا بِعَشَرَةِ دَنَانِيرَ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ لِي عَشَرَةُ دَنَانِيرَ فَتَصَدَّقْتُ مِنْهَا بِدِينَارٍ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ كَانَ لِي دِينَارٌ فَتَصَدَّقْتُ بِعُشْرِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلُّكُمْ فِي الْأَجْرِ سَوَاءٌ كُلُّكُمْ تَصَدَّقَ بِعُشْرِ مَالِهِ.
Musnad Ahmad 744
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had large hands and feet and big joints.حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، وَمِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَثْنَ الْكَفَّيْنِ وَالْقَدَمَيْنِ ضَخْمَ الْكَرَادِيسِ.
Musnad Ahmad 746
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was neither tall nor short, he had a large head, a big beard and large hands and feet. His face had a reddish colour; he had a long thin line of hair from the top of his chest to his navel; and he had large joints. When he walked, he walked energetically as is walking downhill, I never saw anyone like him before or since,حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، أَنْبَأَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ بِالطَّوِيلِ وَلَا بِالْقَصِيرِ ضَخْمُ الرَّأْسِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ شَثْنُ الْكَفَّيْنِ وَالْقَدَمَيْنِ مُشْرَبٌ وَجْهُهُ حُمْرَةً طَوِيلُ الْمَسْرُبَةِ ضَخْمُ الْكَرَادِيسِ إِذَا مَشَى تَكَفَّأَ تَكَفُّؤًا كَأَنَّمَا يَنْحَطُّ مِنْ صَبَبٍ لَمْ أَرَ قَبْلَهُ وَلَا بَعْدَهُ مِثْلَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Musnad Ahmad 748, 749
It was narrated that Shuraih bin Hani’ said
I asked `A`ishah about wiping over the khuff (leather slippers) and she said. Ask ‘Ali, for he knows more that than me; he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). So I asked ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) and he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `For the traveller, three days and nights; for the one who is not travelling one day and night.` A similar report was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) from The Prophet (ﷺ)حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا عَنْ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ فَقَالَتْ سَلْ عَلِيًّا فَإِنَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِهَذَا مِنِّي كَانَ يُسَافِرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَسَأَلْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ وَلِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ.
