Musnad `Umar b. al-Khattab (ra)
مُسْنَدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ

Musnad Ahmad 98
It was narrated that Mujahid said
A man struck a son of his with a sword and killed him. The matter was referred to 'Umar and he said. Were it not that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺsay, “No father should be executed in retaliation for killing his son.` I would have executed you before you left.حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرٌ يَعْنِي الْأَحْمَرَ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ حَذَفَ رَجُلٌ ابْنًا لَهُ بِسَيْفٍ فَقَتَلَهُ فَرُفِعَ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يُقَادُ الْوَالِدُ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ لَقَتَلْتُكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَبْرَحَ.
Musnad Ahmad 981
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said
Purple saddle cloths and wearing a blend of linen and silk and gold rings were forbidden, Muhammad said: I mentioned that to my brother Yahya bin Seereen and he said: Did you not hear this? Yes, and borders of silk brocade.حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ نُهِيَ عَنْ مَيَاثِرِ الْأُرْجُوَانِ، وَلُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ، وَخَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِأَخِي يَحْيَى بْنِ سِيرِينَ فَقَالَ أَوَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ هَذَا نَعَمْ وَكِفَافِ الدِّيبَاجِ.
Musnad Ahmad 982
It was narrated that ‘Abeedah said
‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) mentioned the people of an-Nahrawan. He said: Among them is a man with a defective arm, or an incomplete arm, or a small arm. If you could exercise restraint, I would have told you what Allah promised on the lips of Muhammad to those who kill them. I said: Did you hear that from him? He said: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka`bah.حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، قَالَ ذَكَرَ عَلِيٌّ أَهْلَ النَّهْرَوَانِ فَقَالَ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَنَبَّأْتُكُمْ بِمَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الَّذِينَ يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَأَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ مِنْهُ قَالَ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ.
Musnad Ahmad 986
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said
If you are told a hadeeth from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then think of it in the best, most guided and most pious manner.حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِذَا حُدِّثْتُمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا فَظُنُّوا بِهِ الَّذِي أَهْيَاهُ وَأَهْدَاهُ وَأَتْقَاهُ.
Musnad Ahmad 987
It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said
If you are told a hadeeth from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then think of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the best, most pious and most guided manner. ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) came out to us when the mu’adhdhin was giving the call to prayer and said: Where is the one who was asking about Witr This time for Witr is good.حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِذَا حُدِّثْتُمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا فَظُنُّوا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَهْيَاهُ وَأَتْقَاهُ وَأَهْدَاهُ وَخَرَجَ عَلِيٌّ عَلَيْنَا حِينَ ثَوَّبَ الْمُثَوِّبُ فَقَالَ أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنْ الْوِتْرِ هَذَا حِينُ وِتْرٍ حَسَنٍ.

Musnad Ahmad 989
Malik bin `Urfutah told me
I heard ‘Abd Khair say: I was with `Ali and a chair and a stone vessel of water were brought. He washed his hands three times, his face three times, his forearms three times, and he wiped his head - Yahya described it: he started at the front of his head and moved to the back. And he said: I do not know whether he brought his hands back to the front or not - and he washed his feet. Then he said: Whoever would like to see the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), this is the wudoo of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman said: Shu`bah made a mistake with this; rather it was narrated from Khalid bin `Alqamah, from `Abd Khair.حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ عُرْفُطَةَ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ خَيْرٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ فَأُتِيَ بِكُرْسِيٍّ وَتَوْرٍ قَالَ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَوَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَصَفَ يَحْيَى فَبَدَأَ بِمُقَدَّمِ رَأْسِهِ إِلَى مُؤَخَّرِهِ وَقَالَ وَلَا أَدْرِي أَرَدَّ يَدَهُ أَمْ لَا وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى وُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَهَذَا وُضُوءُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْقُطَيْعِيُّ قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا أَخْطَأَ فِيهِ شُعْبَةُ إِنَّمَا هُوَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ.
