Chapter 7c: Weeping for the Dead - Section 3

Mishkat al-Masabih 1747

Abu Huraira said that a member of the family of Allah's Messenger ﷺ died and that the women gathered and wept for him. ‘Umar then arose and forbade and repulsed them, but Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, “Let them alone, ‘Umar, for the eye is tearful, the heart is afflicted, and the matter has happened recently.” Ahmad and Nasa’i transmitted it.
