Chapter 9b: Sadaqa given by a Woman from her Husband’s Property - Section 2

Mishkat al-Masabih 1952

Sa'd said that when Allah's Messenger ﷺ took the oath of allegiance from the women, a woman of high rank who seemed to be one of the women of Mudar rose and said, “Prophet of Allah, we are dependent* on our parents, our sons and our husbands, so with what part of their property can we do what we like?” He replied, “Fresh food which you eat and give as a present.” Abu Dawud transmitted it. * The Arabic is kall, meaning

literally ‘a burden’
