Chapter 72: The Prohibition of fasting for a lifetime, and mentioning the differences reported from Mutarrif Bin 'Abdullah In The Narrations About It
باب النَّهْىِ عَنْ صِيَامِ الدَّهْرِ، وَذِكْرِ الاِخْتِلاَفِ، عَلَى مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِي الْخَبَرِ فِيهِ
Sunnan an-Nasai 2381
Mutarrif bin 'Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir narrated from his father that
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, concerning one who fasted for the rest of his life: "He neither fasted nor broke his fast." 'Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted."أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ فِي صَوْمِ الدَّهْرِ " لاَ صَامَ وَلاَ أَفْطَرَ " .
