Abu Ishaq said
A man asked al-Bara’ ibn 'Azib: “Was the face of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) like the sword?” He said: “No, it was rather like the moon!”حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرُّؤَاسِيُّ، عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ: أَكَانَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِثْلَ السَّيْفِ؟ قَالَ: لا، بَلْ مِثْلَ الْقَمَرِ.

As-Sa’ib ibn Yazid said
"Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) wore on the Day of Uhud two coats of mail between which he rendered support.”حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ، عَنِ السَّائِب بْنِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، كَانَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ دِرْعَانِ، قَدْ ظَاهَرَ بَيْنَهُمَا.

Anas ibn Malik said
"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered Mecca wearing a helmet. He was told: 'This Ibn Khatal [son of corrupt speech] is clinging to the curtains of the Ka'ba so he said: 'Kill him!'"حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ وَعَلَيْهِ مِغْفَرٌ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: هَذَا ابْنُ خَطَلٍ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِأَسْتَارِ الْكَعْبَةِ، فَقَالَ: اقْتُلُوهُ.

Anas ibn Malik reported
“Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered Mecca in the Year of Victory with the helmet on his head. When he took it off, a man came to him and told him: ‘Ibn Khatal [the son of corrupt speech] is clinging to the curtains of the Ka'ba,’ so he said: ‘Kill him!’ Ibn Shihab said: ‘It has also reached me that Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was not in the state of ritual consecration on that day.’”حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ، وَعَلَى رَأْسِهِ الْمِغْفَرُ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا نَزَعَهُ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: ابْنُ خَطَلٍ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِأَسْتَارِ الْكَعْبَةِ، فَقَالَ: اقْتُلُوهُ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: وَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، لَمْ يَكُنْ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُحْرِمًا.

Jabir said
“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered Mecca on the Day of Victory wearing a black turban.”حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ (ح) حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، مَكَّةَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ، وَعَلَيْهِ عِمَامَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ.

'Amr ibn Huraith reported that his father said
"I saw a black turban on the head of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace).”حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُسَاوِرٍ الْوَرَّاقِ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، وَعَلَيْهِ عِمَامَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ.

"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) addressed the people while wearing a black turban.”حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالا: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ مُسَاوِرٍ الْوَرَّاقِ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرُو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، خَطَبَ النَّاسَ، وَعَلَيْهِ عِمَامَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ.

Ibn 'Umar said
"When the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) donned a turban, he let his turban hang down between his shoulders.”حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، إِذَا اعْتَمَّ، سَدَلَ عِمَامَتَهُ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْهِ..

Ibn 'Abbas said
“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) addressed the people while wearing a turban that was dasma’ [marked with traces of oil from his hair].حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سُلَيْمَانَ وَهُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْغَسِيلِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَطَبَ النَّاسَ، وَعَلَيْهِ عِصَابَةٌ دَسْمَاءُ.

Abu Burda reported that his father said
“'A'isha (may Allah be well pleased with her) brought out to us a tangled garment and a coarse loincloth, then she said: ‘The spirit of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was taken in these two'.”حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلالٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْرَجَتْ إِلَيْنَا عَائِشَةُ، كِسَاءً مُلَبَّدًا، وَإِزَارًا غَلِيظًا، فَقَالَتْ: قُبِضَ رُوحُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فِي هَذَيْنِ.

Al-Ash'ath ibn Sulaim said
"I heard my maternal aunt relate, on the authority of her paternal uncle; 'While I was walking in Medina, someone behind me said: ‘Raise your loincloth, for that is more pious and conducive to longer wear.’ Lo and behold, he was Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace)', so I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah , it is simply a black garment with white stripes!’ He said: ‘Do you not have an example in me?’ so I looked and noticed that his loincloth was to half his shins'.”حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنِ الأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمَّتِي، تُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَمِّهَا، قَالَ: بَيْنَا أَنَا أَمشِي بِالْمَدِينَةِ، إِذَا إِنْسَانٌ خَلْفِي يَقُولُ: ارْفَعْ إِزَارَكَ، فَإِنَّهُ أَتْقَى وَأَبْقَى فَإِذَا هُوَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا هِيَ بُرْدَةٌ مَلْحَاءُ، قَالَ: أَمَا لَكَ فِيَّ أُسْوَةٌ؟ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا إِزَارُهُ إِلَى نِصْفِ سَاقَيْهِ.
